Drain is significantly lower than road surface

Reported via mobile in the Pothole category anonymously at 14:40, Sat 30 October 2021

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

Recent resurfacing has been poorly done. Drain is dangerously lower as surface has been built higher than drain. It's so low its jolts the car badly and I've seen a cyclists close to falling. Not acceptable needs to be fixed.

Council ref: ENQ21908831

  • I came here to log this too. It's really disappointing after the whole road has just been done that this was left in this way, which is probably worse than it was originally tbh. If you're not able to go around (which you mostly can't due to the heavy traffic flow down this road) cars have to slow to 10-15 mph to avoid severely jolting the near-side wheel as it smashes into the dip, and so you get the cars behind braking hard because they're not anticipating it. Really dangerous.

  • Thank you for you enquiry regarding the gully level. During a site meeting prior to the recent road repairs it was noted the gully level was lower than ideal however adjusting it would cause a large puddle to form in the adjacent junction. It was therefore left at it's current level. Any adjustment of the gully cover level will need to go hand in hand with moving the whole gully and chamber across towards the kerb to avoid a larger puddle forming. This request can be added to the list for drainage works sometime in the future , however it is unlikely to feature in the short term programme of works due to our current list of higher priority work.
