Traffic exceeding 30mph

Reported via desktop in the Road Traffic Signs and Road Markings category anonymously at 11:20, Fri 24 September 2021

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

We have recently moved into the are and have noticed that the traffic on the road in front of our estate does not appear to be abiding to the 30mph limit.

We have looked for speed limit signs, but they are not along the road near the new housing on Coxwell Road, Faringdon.

There is a 30mph sign as you drive onto Coxwell Road from the A420 when you near the new housing, but there is very little signage when coming along the Coxwell Road from the main village - cars tend to speed up around Wearn Road towards the junction for the A420, passing the new housing estates.

This appears to be a very busy road and with lots of new families now living in the new estates, it will only be a matter of time before someone is injured.

Could this please be investigated further - thank you

  • Thank you for your enquiry. This issue has been passed onto the relevant team for investigation.

    State changed to: Investigating

  • Thank you for your report, the reason for the lack of 30mph repeater signs is due to the street lighting along the road. Schedule 10 General Direction 2 prohibits the use of 30 mph repeater signs where a road has a system of carriageway lighting.

    State changed to: Investigation complete
