Think Bike signage required

Reported via desktop in the Road Traffic Signs and Road Markings category anonymously at 12:08, Thursday 23 September 2021

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

I have been both a party to and have witnessed five near misses in between cyclists and car drivers pulling out of Evans Lane to turn onto Bicester Road in September 2021. Car drivers often pull out in front of cyclists at this junction by accident. Can I please request a Think Bike sign is erected or something similar to remind motorists to take the time to look out for cyclists and motorcyclists before someone is seriously injured or worse? If this is not possible is it permissible for me to add a sign to the lampost opposite the junction to help improve safety?

  • It would also be good to get a crossing in place so that schoolchildren and the general public could cross Evans Lane safely. People are in such a hurry to get up Evans and out into Bicester Rd that they don’t see cyclists or pedestrians. If vehicles could be slowed down it would make them pay more attention to road safety.
