Street light 7 out

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later
The street light is continually flickering red as of this evening.
This light is right in front of my house, and the old SOX light already was extremely bright, strongly illuminating my bedroom at night. I find the replacement LEDs to be much brighter and harsher than the SOX lights, so am concerned about the impact of having this light replaced. Please could I ask that a shield is fitted to the new light fitting, at least to the rear and preferably the south side (facing the fields) too as this will help to cut light entering my windows. I see from the catalogues of suppliers such as ASD Lighting that their range includes such light shields. I'm sure it makes sense to fit this at the same time as the new LED fitting, as if I have to complain later (e.g. to my councillor), it'll mean sending a second crew out which surely must cost more?
If it could also be the lowest luminosity fitting possible, that would also be appreciated by my neighbours. This light is not on the actual road, but just on a footpath that leads to the unlit public right of way along the fields, so main highway brightness is not needed.
Thank you in advance for your understanding!

Hi Jonathan, sorry to hear of this issue.
I will ask the crew to attend and reangle or fit a shield. Shields are available but are not always the answer as they can deflect the light elsewhere or block light getting to where its needed so we would only fit a shield on reinspection if there is a need for it. Any further issues please feel free to update or contact

Thanks for the reply. Sorry if my long post caused you to misunderstand! The old SOX light failed on Saturday, so will need replacing with an LED. The SOX light already illuminated my rooms, so I am guessing that the LED will be even worse. I would much appreciate it if a shield could also be added, particularly as the lamp is slightly higher than my house, so I will be able to see the LED "bulbs" directly from my windows.

Ah sorry I'm with you, apologies, yes it may appear brighter due to the change in light source . The crews may attempt a repair if they have a spare lamp as red burner would suggest a failed lamp or ignitor. If not ive asked to put a shield on with the new lantern, any issues following this though please feel free to update us and we can check it over

This was fixed soon after the report, and I'm very happy with the shield that was included to reduce the light that enters my property. If anything, it is now better than the previous light. Many thanks.
