The footpath from Stones Farm to Mill farm is overgrown and dangerous to use .
Reported via desktop in the Footways and Pavement damage category anonymously at 17:27, Tue 14 September 2021
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later
Grass, soil and hedge growth has reduced the width of the pavement so that it is not safe, particularly with heavy traffic passing so close. This is a regular problem.

Member of the public reports that the footpath along the A417 walking from Stanford in the Vale towards Wantage is still very dangerous. Encroaching soil and grass leaves an extremely narrow footpath, and as cars drive close to the kerb, car wingmirrors are sometimes overlapping this extremely narrow path. Overhanging trees and shrubs, means ducking to avoid, whilst trying to watch you don't walk off the footpath.

In places it is impossible to continue walking on the footpath as the brambles etc force you on to the road When wet, the mud makes conditions underfoot very slippery. The change of speed limit to 50mph on leaving the village means large lorries thunder past and pedestrians get blown over, as reported a couple of years ago.

I try to use this path everyday and it is getting more and more dangerous especially with the worsening light levels at this time of year. Aggregate lorries travel very quickly along this stretch and there is very little path to safely walk along. My children also have to use this path when they have been dropped off the school bus in Stanford. Please can this be urgently reviewed.

9th November 2011 To help whoever is looking into it.. The situation is getting worse and the path is so narrow that it is almost impossible to use. As highlighted the large lorries are travelling quickly and very close to what should be the pavement, The path is down to 6 inches wide in places - see photos. The growth from the bushes completely covers the path - they are pruned by the traffic. making the situation worse. Last weekend, returning rom the village in the dark one of us tripped over on the piles of aggregate and dirt. . Fortunately there was no passing traffic.

The path has been partly cleared. From Stone farmhouse to the 50 sign. However the people who walk this path tend to live further along, around the Mill Farm junction and beyond which means they still have a terrible footpath which is very narrow (see previous pics) and slippery underfoot. The fact that this part is just outside the 30 mph zone makes it even more dangerous as traffic, including heavy lorries, powers past at speed. Can this complaint please be passed to whoever deals with this part of the footpath.
