Disgraceful state of the steps on Wallingford bridge

The steps on Wallingford bridge are in a disgraceful state and have been now for many years, with a yellow cover being put in place at least 3 years ago. The gap now between the cover and the steps has got considerably larger and is very dangerous. It is an accident waiting to happen. At the top of the steps where it meets the bridge itself the top plinth is missing and the exposed bricks are sharp.
Apart from the danger this poses, and in wet conditions the yellow cover on the steps becomes extremely slippy, this bridge is part of Wallingford's heritage and should be preserved as such not left to rot. It is our history which attracts tourists to the area. In fact, the whole of the Riverside area is in a poor state of repair and nowhere near its former glory.
Surely, these steps should have been repaired by now. It's unbelievable that they are still in such an appalling state after so many years. This really should be made a priority.
