Visibility of Sturt Road is heavily restricted by tall overhanging trees alongside Sandford Rise (between Hill Close and Dancers Hill). The problems are a) turning out of Hill Close it's impossible to see cars coming along Sturt Road from the Witney direction, and it's a downhill section so vehicles are often speeding, b) turning into Hill Close from Sturt Road heading towards Witney; same problem with cars coming from the Witney direction obscured by trees. Problem is arguably even worse where cyclists are coming along Sturt Road as the "dip" is a natural speeding point.

  • We have visited site and assessed the trees in their location. The overhanging trees present are on land maintainable by the adjacent landowner and not by the County Council. We have sent correspondence to the landowner, detailing the problem and advising that they carry out remedial works to resolve the situation.

    Many Thanks for your enquiry.
