Large lorries damaging kerb and land
Reported via desktop in the Roads and Carriageways category anonymously at 10:33, Fri 16 July 2021
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later
With reference to previous post 2573325, the parish council wishes to request help with dealing with the continuous damage of the kerb and grassed area at Oxford Road. The curve of the road is such that the lorries (or any large vehicle) negotiating it invariably mounts the kerb and damages grassed area, and has in some cases knocked the posts that are installed. Any attempt at reparation is likely to be immediately undone, especially with ongoing building work at the Ede Homes, Bloor Homes and Kingerlee Homes developments. In response to the previous report it was said proof was needed of who has caused the damage - this is clearly not possible to provide, and in any case it is ongoing damage by multiple vehicles. This green sites the parish council's war memorial stones and is where the laying of the wreaths on Remembrance Sunday takes place. It is therefore a significant location in the village and one which the parish council would hope to keep in good condition. Please advise how this can be dealt with, if necessary by getting in touch with me direct. Sarah Bates, Clerk to KBS Parish Council

Thank you for your report Sarah, there is the potential for a few different options here. Firstly we could install bollards to protect the verge, bell bollards are particularly useful in this situation as they are more durable against larger vehicle damage. Another option would be to install formal waiting restrictions to allow for free flow of traffic along the road and persuade residents to park elsewhere.
This being said OCC do not have the funds at this time to fund both these options so we would require funding for these. Please let us know in the Traffic team if you would like to progress with these proposals further.
