Gap in Yellow lines needs filling

Reported via desktop in the Road Traffic Signs and Road Markings category anonymously at 14:42, Tuesday 6 July 2021

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

Gap in double yellow lines When double yellow lines were thankfully introduced on North Hinksey Lane, the line markers were impeded by a couple of cars parked on the south side of the lane as it neared the cemetry. As a result there is a break in the double yellow lines. This is taken by drivers as permission to park there. This defeats the purpose of the yellow lines to make through traffic on the lane in both directions at once possible. There are always a couple of cars parked there. This turns that part of the lane into a de facto single lane. Please could the markers return to paint in the gap - when cars are not there of course

  • Thank you for this report, this gap is intentionally designed, a gap was introduced to be used as overflow parking for the residents and as a natural traffic calming measure when cars are parked there.
