Giveway markings rubbed off road

Giveway markings out of willowbrook/Didcot town football club side road have rubbed off of the road, nearly several accidents have occurred where people have pulled out infront of traffic continuing on around Bowmont Water.

  • Thank you for your enquiry, in many locations in Ladygrove and many other housing estates throughout the country, the road layout was designed to not have road markings at every location. In addition, at some locations, where road markings have been provided, they are being reduced or removed altogether so to give a greater emphasis on 'shared space'.

    Where there are not any markings there is a greater emphasis that all road users should be courteous and give way to each other’s need. Indeed, in some instances, to install a road marking can have the opposite effect by giving users from one direction the increased confidence that they have priority and therefore an increase of road speeds can be experienced. Having Looked at the injury collision data that we hold there have not been any recorded incidents at this location and therefore I regret, that we wouldn't look to change the road layout here at this time.
