Road crossing unfit for purpose

The Iffley Road crossing between Daubeny Rd and Percy Street is used twice daily by school children and their families. It is the main link between Comper and SSMJ (school across two sites). Today a child was hit and dragged by a car in a serious accident, while using the crossing, her family nearby. The crossing is notorious amongst local families, as cars do not stop reliably. Whether this is a visibility issue I do not know, but it needs immediate attention. For too many years school families have worked with this difficult and dangerous crossing, staying extremely close to their children and worrying on their commute. Once children are old enough to walk to secondary school, it raises more concern (Spires/Cheney children crossing Iffley Road to get to school and home again). Please, while larger scale plans for easing traffice issues in Oxford are under trial, can this crossing receive the necessary investment (preferably a button stop for cars) to keep Oxford's children safe, unlike this little girl today.
