Gullies still not taking water between Nos 3 and No 5 Benson Place
Reported via desktop in the Blocked Drain / Gully category anonymously at 14:49, Fri 18 June 2021
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later
This reopens a report from January, repeated in February. I am aware that the problem does not lie with Oxfordshire assets, and I suspect that it does not lie with Oxford City assets. A City works team inspected the gullies after the Fewbruary report, but there has been no further action. In heavy rain the water from surface drains in Norham Road and Benson Place comes to the surface at the gully near No 4 Benson place, flooding the road and re-entering the drains at the next gully but one near No 7. The City teams have checked the gullies several times and the symptoms are consistent with severe restriction or near-blockage of the only drain line here which passes along the opposite side of the road in front of Nos 5, 6, 7 Benson Place, The water rises in the No4 and No5 gullies in moderate rain, and comes copiously above the surface of the road in heavy rain. I suspect that the line affected must be a Thames Water asset. Benson Place Residents association has been pursuing this problem since at least last August, and whilst some work was done last year upstream of here to alleviate the worst of the problem, nothing has been done since January. Thames Water require me to report this problem via the council. Please can you pursue this matter, or provide me with a route to pursue it with Thames Water.
