Sent to Cherwell District Council and Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later
Sibford Gower Parish Council have today been made aware of an unsafe and unsecured potable water boundary box in the highway verge on the West side of Temple Mill Road immediately behind 1 Barley Close, Sibford Gower.
There is a water utility boundary box to the East of this property which contains the stopcock/meter serving the above property. The top of this box is level with the adjacent footway, but below the ground level of the sloping grass verge.
A cast iron box cover with circular access plate is placed loosely on the top of the shaft, but there are no fixings, nor any building in or concrete benching to secure this cover in place. This inadequate arrangement leaves the stopcock/meter vulnerable to damage, the householder’s water supply at risk of interruption, and the unsecured cast iron box potentially poses a safety risk to the public.
We would be grateful if OCC Highways and/or Thames Water could make urgent arrangements to repair and safely secure this piece of street furniture in a manner that is suitable for its location in a sloping highway verge.
