Heavy traffic in Cumnor Road

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later
Good evening, I am contacting you about the increasing heavy traffic in the above area. I stood at the bus stop today and witnessed 4 large tipper lorries all in convoy. I imagine the trucks are all leaving the new Kingsgate development at the bottom of the Wootton Road. We look out onto the main road at Henwood, and are shocked at the number of plant lorries, timber lorries and others obviously all driving through to the A420 and A34. At the moment with hedges not being cut back, signs are being covered with vegetation. Signs that depict bends, speed signs, warnings of a bridle path which comes out onto Cumnor Road, used by numerous dog walkers, horse riders, ramblers etc. I have been to council meetings in the past to request more warning signs, e.g. a flashing speed sign, but have had no response. Yet very recently Cumnor has got one, Boars Hill, Whitecross, to name a few. The speed on this road is very fast, and I think something needs to be done before there is a terrible accident. I will send this letter on to Fixmystreet also and the Cumnor Parish Council. I await your response.
Regards Mrs Burton Rivendell White Hill Lane, Henwood.OX1 5LB.

Speeding is still a problem in Cumnor Road. At the junction of White Hill Lane, bridle way used by many young people from Youlbury scout camp, traffic is very fast. It needs some flashing sign to alert drivers of a potential hazard. Also, when heavy rainfall, the flooding would make the roads very slippery.

Signs are being covered with vegetation. Especially the sign depicting a horse bridle way in White Hill Lane. Drivers cannot be warned to slow down and take care. This happens far too often . Bushes are not cut back far enough.

Thank you for your report, unfortunately Oxfordshire County Council does not have the available funds at the moment to install a Vehicle Activated Warning Sign as mentioned in your enquiry. With regard to reducing the speed along this road, you will need to contact your local parish as this process requires third party funding. Therefore if you speak to them and they agree to move this forward they can liaise with us to start the process.
