The 30 mph limit should be moved

Reported via desktop in the Highway Schemes category anonymously at 18:37, Sunday 23 May 2021

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

The 30 mph speed limit sign approaching East Hanney from the Grove direction is too close the the Summertown junction and many cars do not slow down coming from the 50 mph limit which makes the right turn out of Summertown extremely dangerous . The 30 mph limit should be moved further towards Grove.

  • Thank you for reporting this, having evaluated the site and the Department for Transport guidance, we do not wish to move this speed limit.

The junction in question has been checked for appropriate visibility splays, and this junction has very good visibility. The junctions visibility splays are acceptable for a road faster than 30mph so we do not see the need to move the speed limit at this time.

    State changed to: Investigation complete
