Large irregular shaped pothole near blind corner

Reported via desktop in the Pothole category anonymously at 13:58, Friday 14 May 2021

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 5 minutes later

This large irregular shaped pothole has been developing for at least 4 months now. It's about 5m from the blind corner, near Idbury Manor, when heading westwards. the large pothole is in the nearside wheel trackway, and "encourages" vehicles to mount the grass verge or to drift to the middle of the road, which may not be advisable considering this is a narrow road and a blind bend. The pothole is now about 15cms deep and continues to deepen as ballast is now being thrown out. The pothole also may cause wheel and suspension problems.

  • This has been reported by me before as the carriageway shoulder was deteriorating but was rejected resulting in this damage. This area needs remedial work beyond filling a pothole.

This complex pothole is deteriorating. it is now at 1m x 1m overall and about 80mm deep with sharp edge on the western edge. its also eating out an old surface repair. the position of the pothole makes west bound vehicles drift across the road, into oncoming traffic coming through the blind bend.
