Report from sovereign resident has reported to that cars,vans are parking on road blocking their and others driveways. council own the road. wondering whether the council could look into parking issues and if possible put road markings or lines or road to help with the parking issues. also sometimes cars, vans park in turning circle meaning vehicles struggle to turn in the road.

  • Thank you for your report. The installation of formal waiting restrictions (yellow lines) requires the implementation of a ‘Traffic Regulation Order’ which in involves a long and expensive legal process including full consultation, I regret that Oxfordshire County Council could not fund such a scheme at this time.

    It should be noted that if a vehicle is parked in either a dangerous position or in such a position as to cause an obstruction these are offences under Section 22 of the Road Traffic Act 1988, this legislation is enforced by Thames Valley Police.

    However another option is to apply for Access Protection Markings, more information can be found here; https://www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/ residents/ roads-and-transport/ street-maintenance-z/ private-access-markings. Please note this requires a cost of £150.
