Inadequate cycle lane

The cycle lane along Bicester Road has recently been repainted. I was hoping that this particular cycle lane would be allowed to fade away, as it is much too narrow to afford any protection to cyclists. I believe the minimum recommended width for a painted cycle lane is 1 metre and the optimum is 1.5 metres or more, but in parts this lane is only 70 cm wide. It has been shown that where there is a painted cycle lane, motorists give cyclists less passing space than if there was no lane at all, so really it would be better to have no cycle lane in a road as narrow as this. In any case, the cycle lane is of no use at the busiest times, ie when the schools are starting and finishing, as there are no yellow lines on this road and it is usually blocked with parked cars at those times.
