Road/pedestrian footpath needs No Entry sign
Reported via desktop in the Road Markings category anonymously at 10:11, Sat 8 May 2021
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later
I live at 45A, The Springs, Whitney. A pedestrian access path passes in front of my house leading from the Springs to Ducklington road. It is heavily used, especially by schoolchildren. Although it is marked pedestrian access, some satnavs don't show this. In the past few days 5 cars have attempted to go down the path and have had to reverse out. At least two of these were at speed and fortunately outside of school hours. Can a more visible No Entry sign be installed to make it clear to drivers? I am very concerned that there will be an accident one day

Thank you for your report. I note there are 2 existing street name signs at the start of The Springs which include the "no through road" symbol. I see another at the top of the the lane but cannot see on google street view what the sign says. These signs are provided by the District Council. The lane itself does not fall under OCC jurisdiction. I would suggest you contact the District Council to see if they could redesign the latter sign to include the no through road symbol or other appropriate text.
