Unclear give way markings on Sunningwell Road.

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

Near miss accident on crossroads between Sunningwell road and Wytham Street. Approaching the crossroads from the A4144 direction. Combined issues with:

1) worn out "give way" white dotted line obscured by ambiguous red road surface 2) Triangle give way warning sign angle bent at a strange angle 3) reduced visibility from on-street parking (not anyone's fault- but makes the previous two harder to spot)

Did not realise I should have given way here until quite late. Luckily slow speed meant no harm done. Although I should have been able to see what remains of the markings/ signs earlier- hopefully by reporting this I can prevent an accident in the future! Fixing either the sign or the road markings should be enough to make this safer. Thanks

  • Thank you for your report. This area is scheduled to have some surfacing work carried out later in the year. Once that has been completed, the cross road junctions will be re-lined to make priorities clear. new signage will be looked into if needed also.
