Pedestrians not being spotted at zebra crossing

Reported via mobile anonymously at 19:01, Sun 18 April 2021

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council and Vale of White Horse District Council less than a minute later

Hi, thanks for installing a zebra crossing in Drayton but I have to say I find the number of cars which don't stop despite being stood at the crossing for a while or not far from reaching it, alarming and dangerous. I don't know if it's because they don't see people or they don't care but I've never experienced anything like it at other zebra crossings before. Please investigate as someone nearly didn't stop in time for me today despite being half way across it.

  • The zebra crossing has been subject to an independent road safety audit review and no concerns have been raised. Whilst ramps have been constructed on each approach to the Zebra crossing to reduce the speed of approaching vehicles, unfortunately it is not possible to design our driver behaviour. As with any near misses, these should be reported to Thames Valley Police.

    Kind regards
