30m of Public highway hedge cut on Grenoble Rd

Reported via desktop in the Grass and Hedges category anonymously at 17:36, Sunday 18 April 2021

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

30m of fully mature and healthy hedge (hawthorn trees) lined along Grenoble Rd (between Brake Hill Roundabout and Tarragon Drive have been cut back to ground level without any prior consultation or notice. The hedge was cut three months ago approx. This hedge serves as an essential defensive barrier; fundamentally as a criminal deterrent (preventing access to residential gardens and estate); visual screen from public (footpath) and cars (road). In addition, the hedge acted as a vital windbreak; reduced noise pollution and attracted wildlife.
