The pothole is vast!! It's both deep and wide. And totally unavoidable even when travelling well within the speed limit (as was I) because of the narrow width of the road at this point. The left front wheel of my car disappeared into it (yesterday Wednesday 8th April 2021) and my whole car made a huge crashing sound as I went over it suggesting serious damage at the very least to my suspension and/or wheel axle and tyre. It was too dangerous for me to stop owing to narrowness of the road. I stopped at the next junction (about 200-300 yards) to check for damage but although none was visible I could not check underneath the vehicle; neither do I have the expertise to assess the damage. I formally request compensation to the tune of £300 since it is evident that my car (Ford Fiesta) has been damaged or at the very least weakened significantly. I will also be booking my car into my garage to identify any structural damage on the front left passenger side and if any is found then I will be forwarding the bill to Oxfordshire County Council to re-imburse me. Even if no damage is found then I expect OCC to pay me for serious wear and tear to my vehicle which has invariably occurred as a result of me driving over this horrendous pothole. I have encountered many potholes in my life but never one like this! If a cyclist were to face this same pothole then I dread to think what the outcome may be. It is a serious accident waiting to happen and I urge the Council to have it mended as an immediate priority.
