Sent to Oxfordshire County Council and Vale of White Horse District Council less than a minute later
An existing lay-by (which used to contain a postbox) along Cumnor Road, between Lower Whitley Road and the Willow Cottage Nursery, has been filled in with soil. This was a well used lay-by and I don't believe there was permission or notice about filling it in.

Thank you for your report. I visited the site pinpointed on the map, B4017 Cumnor Road, Filchampstead, just North of and opposite Lower Whitley Road, see photos. This issue was passed onto the relevant teams and Cumnor Parish Council, for their appraisal and assessment, and is still under investigation.

This lay-by is still unusable. We could stop here to visit people living on Lower Whitley Road, which is not wide enough to park along nor perform a three point turn without pulling into private driveways. There is no longer anywhere to park for delivery drivers or to be dropped by taxi without going down Lower Whitley Road and then reversing out onto Cumnor Road which is dangerous.

The local District Councillor and Cumnor Parish Councillors have all agreed that they would like the layby to be reinstated as it is used by residents taxis and delivery drivers when visiting or making deliveries at Lower Whitley Road. Lower Whitley Road is very narrow making it very difficult for vehicles to turn around without using residents private driveways, which residents are not happy about. Reversing out on to Cumnor Road is dangerous and a safety issue. Reinstating the layby would solve this issue.
Oxfordshire County Council Highways Department are now appraising and assessing this re-instatement issue dependent on programming schedules and budgetary constraints.
