Issues for Highways (OCC) in The Goggs, Watlington
I am reporting matters that affect The Goggs, Watlington. off Britwell Road..
The road was subject to requests for improvement following the damage of widespread flooding in the immediate area in 2014. Some work was undertaken (see below). This winter, a rising water table and heavy late winter rains brought about some small-scale road flooding. For the past year substantial works to 24 The Goggs, transforming the property, has brought about a good deal of over-running of verges (mostly repaired by residents) and downward damage to road surfaces.
Work after 2014
The request from residents was for a full re-instatement of the road surface from the junction with Britwell Road to the end of the metalled section at 28 The Goggs. At the same time OCC were asked to syphon water underground from small springs near to 28 The Goggs into the nearby water course, This later work was done with some measurable success. Curiously the middle section of the road was replaced – but sections at each end were left with no treatment. As a consequence of time – and exceptional use through building - the roadway was markedly deteriorated and we now request that these sections be entirely relaid. At present the road contains many trip points for the dozens of daily walkers (estimate 120-150 daily during 'lock down')
The work of patching has been occasional, somewhat erratic, and never long lasting.
Resurfacing will require a day long (at least suspension or on-street car parking)
The continuing road 'flooding'.
The abrupt end of the resurfaced area
