Aged dangerous tree

Reported via desktop in the Trees category by Ken Gillingham at 12:44, Monday 1 March 2021

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

The tree in question is adjacent to my home on the Bucknell Road OX26. It is covered in ivy and has many dead large branches and tends to bend and make creaking noises in high winds. It has shed dead branches on to my garden and I have to be careful of them. An arboriculturalists tells me that it is diseased though I don't know if this contributes to the frailty of the tree.

It would be appreciated if this tree could be inspected as it is worrying in that being particularly tall with continual high winds it could cause considerable damage/injury should it fail.

Thank you.

  • Thank you for your report. I have been to the location and the tree is not the responsibility of Oxfordshire County Council. I have checked with our highway rrcords specialists and the tree forms part of the original natural boundary feature to the public highway and therefore the responsibility of the tree falls with the adjacent landowner and not the highway authority, Oxfordshire County Council.
