This is a deep pothole towards the edge of the lane. As the lane is quite narrow, it is necessary for vehicles to pull over to the very edge of the tarmac at times, in order to pass each other . At the time when I drove into this pothole it was full of water, so too was the area around it, making it virtually impossible to spot in time to avoid it.

I don't know how long this pothole has been here, but it is a serious hazard. In my case the front nearside wheel dropped into it with some force. as I made my way out of the pothole the tyre started to deflate quite quickly, I was also concerned that there may be damage to the steering and suspension of the car.
As I said in the previous section, this pothole was full of water at the time, so too was the surrounding area, which made it very difficult to see. I am concerned that it poses a much more serious risk to cyclists and motorcyclists, as it could cause them to come off their vehicle, with a chance of major injury or death. It is not the only pothole on this section of the lane, there are many almost as bad or as bad as this.
In my case I managed to partially inflate my tyre and make my way home. I decided to call out my breakdown service to check the wheel and steering suspension to make sure it was ok. I could not drive on the tyre, so the breakdown people took me and the car to Witney to have it repaired.
In all I lost about half a day to this and the tyre had to be replaced which cot £105.
