HGV damage to Showell Brook culvert - Dry Lane/Witney Hill junction
Reported via desktop in the Bridges category by Mark McCappin at 12:44, Mon 15 February 2021
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 5 minutes later
Showell Brook runs through a culvert at the junction of Witney Hill with Dry Lane in Crawley. HGVs have damaged the headwalls and parapet railing at both ends of this structure. The roads in this location are unsuitable for these large vehicles and drivers run into difficulty trying to make turning manoeuvres to exit the village when they realise they have chosen a poor route. Damage has also been caused to the wall at the entrance to a private property at this location.

In response to your questionnaire request, I can confirm that no action has been taken to repair this fault: 1. The stone headwall on the upstream side is damaged. 2. The guardrail, kerbs and verge on the downstream side are all damaged. There has been no change since the fault was first reported 2 months ago.
