Double yellow lines required
Reported via mobile anonymously at 22:14, Sunday 7 February 2021
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council and South Oxfordshire District Council less than a minute later
More and more cars are parking down the road and at least once a week residents meet oncoming traffic with nowhere to go due to cars parked along the road. Not only does it make it dangerous as cars still travel too quickly to be greeted with oncoming traffic the vehicles parked along the street make it difficult for owners to get out of their drives. Also as Westgate house has regular ambulance visits this causes added issues when the ambulance meets oncoming traffic with nowhere to go. Please can you paint double yellow lines along Millington road from the width restriction near no.1 all the way around to Westgate house on both sides of the road.

Thank you for your enquiry and please accept our apologies for the delay in response. The installation of formal waiting restrictions (yellow lines) requires the implementation of a ‘Traffic Regulation Order’, this involves a long and expensive legal process including public consultation, I regret that Oxfordshire County Council do not currently have the available funding for such a scheme.
We would suggest that an initial approach is made to the Town Council so that due consideration can be given towards its priority within the local area and so that the proposal can be endorsed, funding secured and it be promoted locally.
It should be noted that if vehicles are parked in such a manner as to cause an obstruction of the highway they are committing an offence under Section 22 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 and can therefore be moved by Thames Valley Police although, from experience and appropriate, local understanding can also assist.
If, specifically, you are experiencing vehicles overhanging your private drive then it maybe that an Access Protection Marking (White Line) may be suitable - for further details and the cost contribution towards this, please do find them by following this link:
