Damaged grass edge by dustbin lorry

Reported via mobile in the Grass and Hedges category anonymously at 11:48, Thursday 4 February 2021

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

There has been a problem for the past few months of the bin men reversing their vehicle over the corner of this grass which I maintain. As a result it looks a hideous mess and there is mud dragged down the close. This is highway property and all I do is mow the grass to keep it tidy and it’s not my place to repair this even if I had the money to do so.

  • We really don't need such a wide grass strip here. A wider road surface would be so much more useful. Thank you

  • The road is wide enough it is the parked cars on the road that are causing problems for residents and other road users such as delivery vans or shopping trucks and, as we have now seen, the Dustin lorries are finding it difficult to get through also. Yellow lines would be more helpful.

  • Yellow lines tend to put buyers off, as they can see there could be parking problems. We don't want to reduce our house prices like that.

  • Thank you for your report. The only way this issue would be resolved would be for the instillation of bollards along here which will need to be paid for by residents, however due to budget restraints unfortunately we cannot offer and or supply new bollard instillation until the new fiscal year in approx April 2021. If this is still an issue next year please feel free to contact us again and we will look into this. regards.
