Broken wrist caused by underlying ice

Reported via desktop in the Ice/Snow category anonymously at 14:24, Tuesday 26 January 2021

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

On Sunday the 24th of January at about 8.30am I was walking my dog when I slipped on some ice covered in snow. There has been lying water there for years an it has been reported many times but nothing has been done. Consequently, I spent Sunday at Abingdon hospital, Monday at the JR, Wednesday, I have to have a covid test before going to the JR for an operation to put a plate in my wrist and have been warned that the mobilty in my wrist will probably be compromised. I am right handed and am finding life rather difficult especially as I live alone. This could have been avoided if dip in the pavement had been sorted and the drain had been correctly placed.

  • Have now been in hospital having an operation and am unable to lift anything for 6 weeks, needing an injection every day for a fortnight and am still bandaged up. I notice that there is now a sign showing that there could be ice.. Thankfully I have wonderful neighbours who give the support I need.
