Blocked drains in the lane causing continuous streams and flooding

Reported via desktop in the Drainage category by Anthony Hawkins at 11:01, Monday 25 January 2021

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

The drains are permanently blocked in the lane between Little Haseley and Haseley Brook, causing continuous streams of water and flooding immediately outside Brookbank Cottage and Haseley Brook Cottage. The area has now become dangerous to pedestrians, bicycles and vehicles, especially with the cold weather and black ice under the streams and standing water. South Oxfordshire District Council/Highways cleared these drains some years ago but the problem has been exacerbated by combine harvesters and traffic breaking down the banks. Until the past few months there was some drainage but now all drains appear completely blocked.

  • Thank you for your enquiry. Due to current weather events we have issues with flooding all over the county. If you feel your property is at risk, please contact the emergency services or contact our call centre on 0345 310 11 11 to request sandbags. If this road is impassable, please let the call centre staff know and we can get the road closed or erect flood boards. Sometimes it is the volume of water that falls, and our drains are unable to cope, but the water eventually disperses. We will monitor this area on our routine inspections. Regards
