Traffic light dangerously positioned on cycle path
Reported via desktop by Janet Phillips at 17:18, Sunday 24 January 2021
Sent to Oxford City Council and Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later
The first time I cycled past the BP station towards this traffic light at the corner of Marsh Lane and Cherwell Drive, I almost smashed into it head-first. Problem exacerbated by fact that there's a slight slope down into it. Ideally it should be moved right away from the cycle path. It should at the very least be painted, etc. to make it clearly visible. Many children use this cycle path, and children often don't pay attention, so that increases the argument for clearing it right out of the way of the path. Thank you. Janet Phillips

Thank you for contacting Oxfordshire County Council Traffic Signals.
This has been purposefully positioned to be on the segregating line between the pedestrian & cycle path, so it is out of the way of both pedestrian and cyclists direct routes.
The post construction Road Safety Audit (RSA3) is due to be completed in early Feb, so any safety issues will be identified as part of this exercise.
State changed to: Investigation complete
