Keep clear
Reported via Android in the Road Traffic Signs and Road Markings category anonymously at 06:40, Sunday 17 January 2021
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later
Keep clear has been painted in the road. This was never there before the markings have been renewed and is completely unnecessary. All it has done is create an eyesore in the road and reduce parking spaces along the single yellow lines. No notice or place for appeal was given for these markings to be made

Thank you for your enquiry. The Keep Clear marking has been installed so to help ensure vehicles turning in and out of ‘Old Buildings’ can do so and not be inadvertently ‘blocked in’ and/or in attempting to squeeze through, do not cause damage to the footway, walls or buildings at times when vehicles are able to park on the single yellow line opposite. Unlike, for example, changes to waiting restrictions (Yellow Lines) there is no requirement for a public consultation on this marking and, whilst it will appear bright at the moment, please be rest assured that this will tone down over time.
