I would like to correct you that this bridleway is highway bridleway is maintained and has been maintained by South Oxfordshire/Oxfordshire Council for over 20 years up to Cranleigh lodge.

There are now several large areas deterioration, The road has now become difficult to drive on and I have now caught one of my high quality tyres on trying to access my property. There are areas you failed repaired previously that are now larger than your previous repairs, some 24 months ago.

I unable to upload all the areas of road disintegration as there are so many.

Further it is also becoming difficult for walkers, vehicles and horses to use the highway safely because the lack of maintenance, poor management, water maintenance and poor planning infrastructure.

  • Not really a highway though is it. For years the owners of the properties at the end of the track have claimed they own it - but now the surface is failing due to the huge amount of building and other contractors that plough up and down there, they want the council to pay for upkeep! PS sorry about your high quality tyres!

  • A Bridleway is a highway over which the Public have a right of way on foot and horse- Section 336 (1) Town and Country Planning Act 1980– in addition cyclists can use a Bridleway provided they give way to pedestrians and horseback riders.

Thanks for asking but no the problem has not be fixed. In fact the Bridleway continues to disintegrate and becomes less navigable.

I would like to correct you, the bridleway has been maintained by South Oxfordshire/Oxfordshire Council for over 20 years from the Henton road up to Cranleigh lodge. There are now continued large areas of deterioration due to lack of maintenance. Thus making it difficult to drive on without hitting potholes even when care is taken. The are areas you failed to repair previously which are now larger than your previous repairs, some 24 months ago I look forward to the council taking action to repair and resurface the part of the bridleway. Thank you.

  • This report is not the responsibility of Oxfordshire County Council as it is not adopted highway. Unfortunately we can only inform you what we own so you may need to go to Land Registry to find out who owns this track. Regards
