Water and ice on the road
Reported via desktop anonymously at 15:29, Fri 8 January 2021
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council and West Oxfordshire District Council less than a minute later
Annually we suffer from water running down the road on both sides of the hill but this year it has been excessive. The water on the road comes from springs in both directions and, when it freezes, we have difficulty leaving our homes despite spreading grit from the boxes. Attempts were made to channel the springs on the north side of the hamlet but that appears to have failed. No attempt has been made to do anything about the spring on the south hill which emerges just below the gate of the last house on the hill. As a result of the volume of water cascading down both hills and the fact that the outlet into the river blocks up easily, a large muddy expanse of water has been covering the road over the bridge for months causing unknown damage to the road beneath and danger to residents. Additionally the vehicle collecting kitchen recycling yesterday morning (7 Jan) was prevented from going up the hill on the north side due to the ice on the road from the springs. The driver and a neighbour spent about 1/2 hour gritting the road to enable him to continue on his way.

07.07.2021 to date nothing has been done to resolve this issue. When winter arrives this road will ice over again and become a danger to vehicles and property.
