Blocked gully and raised ironworks
Reported via desktop in the Blocked Drain / Gully category anonymously at 20:42, Sun 3 January 2021
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later
The gully is blocked and cannot clear due to the fact that further down the pipe the ironworks are damaged and blocking the flow of water. This problem has been known to the Highways Department for over 1 year now, it has been raised as an issue by the area technician but nothing has been done.

Is there any update on what investigations and actions have been undertaken and planned? It is now 15th February 2021 and still nothing has happened? The area was recently subject to flooding with further damage to the road surface.

It is now 6th November 2021, nine months since my last update as it says “in progress”. As it is basically 2 years since the original report of an issue here I was wondering how long “in progress” actually is? Do you have a date by which remedial work will be carried out, if so what is it? Approximately 10 days ago this area was flooded again due to the damaged iron works not taking the water away quickly enough. Since then the winter frosts have started. During the autumn and winter months this area of Oaksmere is often subject to standing water that consequently freezes. Could the council advise that should an accident take place here that is caused by standing water/ice that Oxfordshire County Council will accept liability due to the damaged iron works and blocked gulley not being mended in a timely fashion.

Saturday 27th November update. It still says the works are in progress which appears to mean nothing. Further to my last update, the weather has now changed for the worse. These photos were taken at 3pm today where water is clearly sitting on the roadway. At 11.30am this morning it was towards the centre of the road. As we now have the potential for the road to freeze one assumes OCC will look closely at their liability if an accident occurs at this point on Oaksmere. There have over the years been a number of accidents on this blind bend.
Raised ironworks, flood water potential freezing weather = Danger and high risk of accidents. Please advise what you propose as a plan of action
