Road Sign illumination not working on all of road signs on a very busy junction with the A34. I found an insulated live cable coming out of the ground, hanging on tree branches by the roadside. Reporting this along with two street lights not working on the slip to North Hinksey Village.

  • Thank you for your report. I have visited the site you pinpointed on the map, see photos, and am assigning the 'Road Sign illumination not working on all of road signs on a very busy junction with the A34' issue to the Street Lighting Team to assess and repair.
Regarding the 'insulated live cable coming out of the ground, hanging on tree branches by the roadside' issue. After checking our Highway Records maps I can confirm that this cabling is located on land that is not the responsibility of Oxfordshire County Council. It is on verge owned by Highways England.
The A34 (plus it's slip roads, bridges and adjacent footpath/cyclepath/verges) are not the responsibility of Oxfordshire County Council. You should contact Highways England on: Tel: 03001235000 or email: info@highwaysengland.co.uk
I have, however, sent them an email reporting this issue.
