Road markings on B4017 near Chestnut Drive Drayton
Reported via mobile in the Road Traffic Signs and Road Markings category anonymously at 18:29, Tue 1 December 2020
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later
This section of road just north of Chestnut Drive and Sutton Wick Lane recently had the anti skid surface laid and new road markings. The SLOW sign on the road is just after the limit goes from 30mph to 40mph on the northbound side. Surely this should be on the southbound side warning motorists to slow down when entering the village ,not when leaving.

Thank you for your report. The coloured surfacing, dragons teeth and 30 roundel markings are to alert southbound traffic that they are entering a settlement with a 30 speed restriction and therefore need to slow down accordingly, the slow marking in the northbound lane is a historic marking for vehicles approaching the bend, since the speed limit was lowered to 40mph on this section this marking is really no longer needed but was refurbished by the developers road marking contractors as they were on site.
