Dangerous parking by parents during school rush on Sinclair and Hill view junction

Reported via mobile in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 12:02, Sun 29 November 2020

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

At the junction from Sinclair Avenue to Hill view crescent parents are parking illegally on a day to day basic. Parents park on foot paths blocking access for elderly residents and pushchairs are having to go on roads to get past. We need wooden posts/fences installing all around the junction to protect people using the footpaths to access the school and shops. It is a matter of time before someone gets injured. I have contacted the school and council and they have instructed me it’s roadways so Oxford Council need to do something. You have put similar measures in place around other schools in the area and the same needs doing here. Why not send some council workers down and investigate the problem yourselves as it isn’t going away and it’ll only get worse.

  • Thank you for your report. Grass verges are not intended for driving or parking on and we do not support it. If residents wish to have bollards installed outside their property, this can be arranged, however, this would be at a cost to themselves. In regards to cars parking on or obstructing the footway, this is a matter for Thames valley police. Cars parking dangerously, causing an obstruction or driving over the footway should be reported to Thames valley police on 101 or www.askthe.police.uk who have the power to enforce/address these issues. Thank you
