Repairs needed to Old Road, Wheatley
Reported via desktop in the Roads/highways category by Michael Skinner at 17:48, Sat 28 November 2020
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later
From Acremead Road to the top of Old Road we have a pandemic of pot holes on each side of the road which has had no repairs since we moved into No 83 more than 30 years ago. The road is extremely busy with deliveries, dog walker cars and resident cars and deserves a complete review. The street light outside 83 is covered by overgrown branches, I have reported this previously but nothing has happened. Surely an officer can come up the hill just to see how bad it is.

Thankyou for your report. I will visit the site shortly to look at the potholes but please raise another FMS for the Street Light as this is a different Team who would need to investigate this. Many thanks

Your men have filled in one or two patches below our house, totally inadequate, but none of the long "ditch" opposite our house at Number 83 has been repaired. I think you need a senior manager to look at this road which has not been resurfaced since we moved in more than 30 years ago.

I have reported this twice and you have told me the problem is sorted. There are still branches which overhang this light and whilst they are without leaf now you can see how dense they would be from the Spring onward. These should be removed to give us uninterrupted light in a very dark lane. I would also mention that the light itself is not working whilst the one outside number 73 is working.

Our road is now in a terrible state of repair due in part two the level of traffic and delivery vans going up and down the road constantly, but also because of the cars going up to walk on Shotover. Two other things have caused huge problems, the first is that the BT line was severed by accident and the road has had to be opened and the second looks like a water burst, and if it is that then it is still not repaired. I think a Senior Manager needs to come and look at the road and talk to the residents to understand that the road needs repair not just a "pot hole". I can if you wish video our part of the road but it stretches several hundreds of yards.

Our road worsens by the day and what should happen is for the most Senior Officer responsible for roads to come and look at it himself. It is a single track road leading to Shotover Park, Traffic is significant, not just because Covid gets people and pets on the road, but the huge increase in delivery lorries. This road is awful and needs attention and not just the odd pothole but a resurfacing which we have not seen since we moved here in 1983.

I really do not understand why I must keep reporting the road leading up to Shotover which is in a terrible state, and which has had no proper treatment in the thirty seven years we have lived here. The edges of this single track road have collapsed partly because of all the traffic but also because of heavy vehicles and the number of delivery vans. Can you arrange for someone from the County Council to come and view the road and then to come up with a plan to properly refurbish the whole road up to the top.

The position is exactly as I have reported over the past months. Our road is in a dreadful state and needs resurfacing top to bottom. Please pass this on to whoever has responsibility for viewing the road and taking action.
