Crash barrier obstructing public right of way across central reservation.
Reported via iOS in the Roads and Carriageways category anonymously at 07:59, Tue 3 November 2020
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later
The ancient footpath from Headington to Elsfield crosses the northern bypass, which was originally built as one carriageway and later a second was added. A continuous crash barrier runs along the central reservation, obstructing this public right of way. A gap needs to be provided at the point of intersection to allow the public to walk the footpath safely and spend as little time as possible in the carriageway. The barrier is positioned eccentric on the central reservation, close to the eastbound traffic, making climbing over the obstruction particularly perilous.
