Inadequate traffic calming on new estate
Reported via mobile anonymously at 16:12, Fri 30 October 2020
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council and South Oxfordshire District Council less than a minute later
On ‘East End’, Cholsey, on the new Bellway estate we need clear speed limit signs, and also traffic calming measures such as cross-street speed bumps. Cars and vans often travel at speed on the long stretch and around the blind corners. As the estate becomes busier this will get worse and more dangerous. Please advise when this will be reviewed.

A Section 38 Application has been submitted to OCC and we believe it is the Developers intention for the roads to be adopted. We can raise your concerns with the Developer in respect to long term adoption, but we suggest that the residents also make contact with them, raising their concerns, as it will be in the control of the Developer to make changes to their internal roads.

Thank you for your enquiry.
Upon review of the scheme, I can see there is a requirement as part of the planning agreement to install traffic calming measures (speed cushions) on Wallingford Road, Cholsey.
A recent site visit has been carried out, and I can confirm the speed cushions have been installed as per agreement.
The roads within the Bellway estate are not currently adopted by OCC, therefore further traffic calming measures within the development will have to be directed to the developer to review.
