WOMAN NEARLY KILLED BELOW WAITROSE CAR PARK as the temporary crossing lights are off

WOMAN NEARLY KILLED BELOW WAITROSE CAR PARK THIS AFTERNON 23 11 2020. I was deeply concerned to see yesterday that the temporary crossing lights below Waitrose were not working, and today neither these nor the ones that control cars are on - see photos of temporary lights in position. There are many people who use walking aids, using the crossing - and many people cannot cross the road quickly. Cars come very fast around the corner, and with no lights to regulate them there will potentially be several deaths after the clocks change, if not before, if the lights remain off before the new set is in place.

  • I can confirm the pelican crossing being out of order is very dangerous. Cars come speeding round the corner from the direction of Waitrose and I found it very difficult to cross there today and I am able bodied.
