Overgrown path, causing severe damage to my garage which has been condemned in a surgery.

Reported via mobile in the Grass and Hedges category by Heidi Price at 13:51, Mon 19 October 2020

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

The footpath running parallel to the side of my house , has sadly not been maintained Regularly by the council. Unfortunately this has caused tree branches and roots etc etc to grow into our garage causing the garage to be condemned and ruined. We now need to fix this before the garage becomes so dangerous that it falls on someone.

  • Hi I have asked the parks department about a hedge which over hangs my boundary and deposits slippery berries and leaves through out the year causing a slip risk. My query to the council was ,could they not trim it down to a manageable level where I could if required keep it neat tidy and safe. Regarding the question about someone trimming the hedge over the footpath - I know my neighbour has trimmed the footpath side as his elderly mother used to walk that way and he did not want the hawthorns etc scratching her. No one seem to know who owns it

Is this something your department could take on to make both the footpath and my pathways safe. As said once down to a manageable height I could maintain the upkeep if the council do not wish to adopt I would appreciate some feedback please Rgds Dave Please see the response from the parks dept.below

Hello Mr May The hedge in question is not one the district council has ever maintained and looking on the land registry portal it appear that most of the strip of land with the hedge on is unregistered, this means I am not able to direct you towards who is responsible for it. I have attached a small extract from the portal below which shows the boundaries of the various properties in the area. The footpath alongside is Oxfordshire County Council adopted .

  • Please could some one get in touch with me. My garage is pouring with water and it’s being held up with props. We need to come to a resolution. Before someone or our little dog gets injured.
