Traffic "excessive" spending from Rose Hill to Roundabout
Reported via mobile in the Roads and Carriageways category anonymously at 22:25, Sat 17 October 2020
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later
Traffic is too heavy for residential area by Rose Hill flats and Littlemore Road. Lots of screeching tires due too EXCESSIVE speed. Cars do not heed to traffic light for pedestrians crossing, try to outrun the turning traffic lights. Middle median crossings are of very great danger when try to cross road. People are at "high risk of fatal injury". Rose Hill Road 20mph is not adhered too, also speed when turning right towards Roundbout, or left towards Rose Hill Parade shops. Cars do not come to a complete stop!! Middle media crossing bollards, sign poles, accidents are frequent occurrence. Too much traffic for area. Need another alternative for traffic diversion, and peoples safety.
Suggest car count wire extended across road in front of flats (Littlemore Rd & Rose Hill) to roundabout for 3months monitoring to really evaluate excessive traffic in this area. An individual watching traffic flow for short time is not a good evaluation of the problems at hand. Thank you in advance for your attention to this.

Pavement and road outside flats/shopping parade on rose hill are a disgrace & trip hazard. Cars and deliveries park on the shop fronts, damaging the pavement, often pedestrians have to walk in the road. A separate parking and pedestrian area needs to be made here, and the whole area fixed and tidied up. There are also two old stone tiled pots dumped here, full of weeds and mud, left by a tiling company which ran a shop here many years ago, which need disposing of.

Almost got run over 3days ago (by LESS THAN 1ft behind me) on pavement together with a bicyclist (to right front bumper) when delivery driver with red food delivery bag pulled car up onto pavement with no consideration for our safety. Since Florence Park Road & several others closed off, more traffic up to Rose Hill Parade/Littlemore & Roundabout "residential area". Traffic is still heavy, & will become more so once again when current Covid restrictions are less restrictive. The houses and flats between this "residential area" to Roundabout are exposed to the speeding & constant noise levels. A new road suggested for traffic to exit somehow through Rose Hill Oval, as "this development was done without consideration of the excessive traffic flow already in existence" for the area! Bad planning.

Still nothing has been done to rectify the dreadful state of this area, both the road and pavement are awful and need redesigning for their current use.

Thank you for your report. Unfortunately the A4158 is one of the main roads into Oxford consequently there is little that can be done to reduce its heavy use, other than the various traffic measures that Oxfordshire County Council are promoting to encourage great use of more sustainable transport.
