Noisy drain covers on Headley Way
Reported via desktop in the Roads and Carriageways category anonymously at 13:20, Mon 12 October 2020
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later
There are two drains in the road outside my house which make a loud noise every time a vehicle drives over them.
Since the work earlier in the year to add wide cycle lanes on Headley Way, cars have been forced to drive over the drains (and even onto the cycle lane) as the road is now too narrow for two cars to pass comfortably. Some weeks ago there was some work to repair damage from vehicles driving on the cycle lane, since then the drain covers have been making a significant amount of noise.
This has got worse over time and now wakes me up every morning! Normally not so bad, but I've started doing late shifts which means my sleep is being significantly disturbed by this problem.
Can you please fix it?

Thanks for investigating. Yes the drain covers are approximately outside numbers 69 and 73a Headley Way. Thanks.

This is still a problem and getting worse. The problem isn't the drain cover rattling in its surround, it's that the drains are loose in the tarmac - so they're slowly getting worse as the movement further damages the tarmac around them. Do you have any updates?
