Persistent flooding due poor drainage
Reported via desktop in the Roads and Carriageways category anonymously at 10:37, Sat 3 October 2020
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later
This section of road is constantly flooded and the drainage gully that was dug last year is clogged up as it is at the bottom of the slope so as soon as it rains the mud and crap off the road surface washes down the road into the gully and blocks it it is also where the sewage treatment is located so if not dealt with it will probably end up causing damage to it

This update is for the street cleaning department as well as the road surface repair team. After the flooding has subsided there is a lot of mud and debris on the road and footpath also the grass verges have not been kept up for years and the verges have come out nearly 2feet past the kerbstones so the road is now narrowed down causing vehicles to mount the verges if another vehicle is coming down the road which just squeezes the mud out into the road surface more as this is only a single track road it’s difficult for passing vehicles as there are very few passing places and the ones there are you can’t get into very easily as they are full of deep potholes like most of the road surface as it’s in such poor condition.

Thank you for your enquiry. Due to current weather events we have issues with flooding all over the county. If you feel your property is at risk, please contact the emergency services or contact our call centre on 0345 310 11 11 to request sandbags. If this road is impassable, please let the call centre staff know and we can get the road closed or erect flood boards. Sometimes it is the volume of water that falls, and our drains are unable to cope, but the water eventually disperses. The gully issue/blockage will be included in our forthcoming gully cleansing programme. We will monitor this area on our routine inspections. For Road Sweeping please report directly to Biffa. Regards
