Street light is on all night

The street light opposite my house is on all night. This seems very wasteful and inefficient as the road is a very quiet village lane, and the light is disturbing to us as it shines directly in our bedroom windows. I’m sure it didn’t used to be on all night long. Could it be modified to be on only for certain hours?
