Parking on both side of the road on pavements
Reported in the Road Markings category anonymously at 14:14, Fri 25 September 2020
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later
Cars park on both side of the road and on the curb. Newtown Road in Henley on Thames currently has single yellow line & parking is restricted between 8am - 18:00 but it is being ignored. Therefore we are requesting double yellow lines being put down for safety of people work in Newtown Road and do not park illegally.

Thank you for your report. The enforcement of yellow lines (either single or double) is as you suggest, currently a matter for Thames Valley Police. They should be able to enforce this as the presence of the line has been shown to include all parts of the Highway and not just the tarmac carriageway. In the future the enforcement of yellow lines is likely to pass to the local authority as a civil matter (as opposed to a criminal matter as it is now) and, all indications are, enforcement of the restrictions is likely to also be enhanced.
